Nowadays, the Internet is a precious tool, which is at the service of information and knowledge and, therefore, is necessary for understanding the world. School libraries cannot ignore this reality and should set an example by making students aware of this type of literacy and by using it as a support tool for the development of their action.
Schools should be concerned with integrating, in their library teams, teachers who are skilled in these areas so that they can support students and develop tasks related to the organisation, management and operating of the SL/ERC. One of these tasks the construction of web pages or even their own website which is to be integrated or associated to the school web page, so that its users, namely students and teachers, know it better and use it with more frequency and efficiency.
As we are also aware of the difficulties that the teams face in developing these activities, we have committed ourselves to organise these web pages with the purpose of helping schools with some suggestions on the construction of school library web pages. Our suggestions, both in terms of the organisation of the contents and in the evaluation items, have mainly a pedagogic objective and operate as a target to be reached. In addition, the application of these suggestions in the various teaching levels will have a specific analysis, which is adapted to the skills of the target audience.
